Why do I need to insure my goods?
Under both domestic and foreign law, the liability of the carrier is severely limited during transport.
The carrier may disclaim responsibility wholly or, alternatively, offer monetary reimbursement for any damage to the goods; however, as the amount is based on weight, damage to lightweight valuable goods may not be fully reimbursed.
It is important to prevent damage to goods by using good quality packing material, which is suited to the type of goods in question, and clearly labelling the goods.
All assignments are carried out in accordance with the NSAB 2015, "General Conditions of the Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders ".
Incoterms 2010 regulates whether responsibility for cargo insurance rests with the buyer or seller.
If you as a Swedish importer/exporter are paying for the freight, you are free to choose your insurance agreement. This also ensures shorter processing time in case you need to seek reimbursement for damages from your insurance company.
We are partnered with the insurance company If.
For larger flows of goods, we recommend our clients to sign an agreement with the insurance company. It is also possible to purchase separate cargo insurance for single shipments. We at Albini are happy to assist you with these matters.
